Chiriqui province had its 160th anniversary in 2009, and Boquete will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2011. The district of Boquete covers over 484 kilometers (300 miles) and has approximately 20,000 residents, with more than 1,000 of those being foreign residents from around the world.

The valley is situated on the estern side of the volcano known as Volcan Baru ( National Park) .

There are more than 250 bird species found in the park boundaries as well as animals such as the jaguar, ocelots, tapir, etc.

 

Cerro Punta is a small and beautiful village located in the highlands of Chiriqui Province, the newest tourist destination, thanks to the abundance of natural resources and amazing landscapes.

At almost 2000 meters above sea level in a pot-shaped valley surrounded by densely forested mountains, Cerro Punta is the highest village in Panama, and usually bathed by the clouds. Around the eighties, agriculture has expanded so rapidly here now occurring in this region nearly 80 percent of vegetables consumed in Panama.
